Organic produce sometimes costs more because farmers do not use widely available synthetic chemicals and need to use more expensive efforts to build healthy soil, reduce weeds and protect their crops from insects. Often this involves more hand labor.
What is better about frozen baby food compared to processed or canned baby food?
Freezing baby food preserves the nutrients. Other methods of processing and preserving can break these nutrients down as a result of exposure to intense heat, light and other elements.
Some research shows that frozen fruits and vegetables are at least as nutritious as fresh fruits and vegetables, if not more. In one study, when comparing frozen green beans with fresh, researchers found that the frozen green beans had more than twice the vitamin C as green beans that had been displayed in the store and then stored in the fridge before eating. It's not surprising that its color is more vibrant than heat-processed foods—freezing literally locks in pigments and nutrients.
If you type in "food processing" into Wikipedia it says: "Food processing can lower the nutritional value of foods. Processed foods tend to include food additives, such as flavorings and texturizers, which may have little or no nutritive value, or be unhealthy. Some preservatives added or created during processing such as nitrites or sulfites may cause adverse health effects."
