FAQ's
What is Organic?
Simply, it is a way of growing fruits and vegetables with materials and practices that build the health of the soil and protect the environment from potential harm caused by synthetic farm chemicals.
Why does Organic produce cost more to grow?
Organic produce sometimes costs more because farmers do not use widely available synthetic chemicals and need to use more expensive efforts to build healthy soil, reduce weeds and protect their crops from insects. Often this involves more hand labor.
What is better about frozen baby food compared to processed or canned baby food?
Freezing baby food preserves the nutrients. Other methods of processing and preserving can break these nutrients down as a result of exposure to intense heat, light and other elements.
Some research shows that frozen fruits and vegetables are at least as nutritious as fresh fruits and vegetables, if not more. In one study, when comparing frozen green beans with fresh, researchers found that the frozen green beans had more than twice the vitamin C as green beans that had been displayed in the store and then stored in the fridge before eating. It's not surprising that its color is more vibrant than heat-processed foods—freezing literally locks in pigments and nutrients.
If you type in "food processing" into Wikipedia it says: "Food processing can lower the nutritional value of foods. Processed foods tend to include food additives, such as flavorings and texturizers, which may have little or no nutritive value, or be unhealthy. Some preservatives added or created during processing such as nitrites or sulfites may cause adverse health effects."
How is the Pure Baby food packaged?
For the time being, Pure Baby food is packaged in ziploc bags for more convenient access. Depending on interest in the baby food, we may upgrade to sealed bags in the future.
How many Pure Baby food cubes come per package?
Typically you will receive 12 Pure Baby food cubes per package. However, because the different foods have varying volume you may receive more than that. Each package will have at least 12 ounces.
How do I store Pure Baby food?
It is best to put your Pure Baby food in the freezer as soon as possible. Keep it in the freezer until you are ready to thaw for your baby. Then take out only the amount you need.
Can you eat Pure Baby food as is or does it have to be cook?

What is the best way to prepare it?

1) Thaw in refrigerator overnight
2) Heat on low in saucepan just until thawed.
3) Put baby food cubes in container and float in warm water.

Yummy Combinations
- Sweet Potatoes: Based on many experiments I have conducted with my two boys, I recommend using sweet potatoes as the primary ingredient in the main meal. I often feed my ten month old son sweet potatoes combined with anything from butternut squash and broccoli to pears and bananas. He loves it! Sweet potato is a mild, nutritious and attractive ingredient to mix with almost anything.
- Grains: I like to combine the fruit or vegetable cubes with the grain cubes to add a little more variety to meals. It adds nutrients as well as creating a nice texture.
- Vegetable Baby Cubes: The vegetable combinations taste wonderful with meats and fish or with ground grains. You can also add parsley or basil to the combination to help add variety to your baby's taste buds.
- Fruit Baby Cubes: I have also found that combining the fruit baby cubes with hot cereal in the morning goes over well with my two year old. Or I buy plain yogurt and add a few fruit baby cubes to sweeten it instead of the high sugar yogurts.
- Vegetables & Toddlers: To help get a few more vegetables into my two year old's diet, I have added warmed butternut squash cubes to his macaroni in place of most of the cheese. He did not notice a difference. I've also added different flavor vegetable baby cubes to soups and sauces to add more nutrients and flavor.
The Story
This idea began with my search for healthy, organic baby food.
I want the very best for my children, that includes protecting them from an unhealthy environment for as long as I can. I grew up in a home where nutrition was a very important factor. My mom was dedicated to providing a healthy start in mine and my siblings lives. My husband also grew up in an environment where fresh fruits and vegetables were readily available. Giving our own children fresh, organic, nutritious food is one way for us to create a safe world and a healthy start for them.
I have two little boys, Tanner and Brody. One of the things I feel passionately about is providing healthy and nutritious food for them. While I was pregnant with my first son, I researched the options I would have when my babies were ready to eat solid foods. I quickly realized how limited my choices would be. There were few things I would compromise when giving my baby his first food; it had to be organic, fresh, nutritious, tasty, and easy to prepare. And of course I did not want to pay an arm and a leg for it.
Because of my criteria listed above, I realized that to be able to fulfill all the requirements I would have to prepare the food myself. I could not find one product on the shelves or in the freezer section that met all my expectations. That is when I decided to make my own. I washed, pealed, steamed, mashed, and froze vegetable and fruit cubes for both of my boys. I mixed different types of fruit and vegetable cubes together. I mixed fruit cubes with hot cereal and yogurt. I even mixed vegetable cubes with ground meats. And my boys love them all; they cannot seem to get enough of these wonderful cubes. Starting them off with a variety of good foods as babies has helped create amazing appetites for a wide range of foods now that they are getting older.
So, I started thinking that if my boys loved the food I prepared for them, why not offer the same great taste to other babies? I talked to other parents. I even prepared and shared some of my veggies and fruits with some of my friends' babies and they all loved it. The moms testing my baby food loved the convenience, the quality of the food, and the ease of preparing healthy and nutritious meals.
